Public education is one of the most important investments a society makes in itself. The children in our classrooms today are the neighbors and community members we will all share a world with tomorrow. What we put into them matters.
Every child who walks into this classroom deserves to be seen. Not just a student, but as a whole person. When children feel valued and recognized, they show up differently. They take risks, they ask questions, they grow.
What you'll notice in my classroom is that it's warm, and that the bar is high. Those things go together for me. Children are capable of far more than we sometimes expect, and part of my job is to help them achieve their highest potential. We work hard, we celebrate what we've earned, and we treat mistakes as information rather than failure.
I've been at Aquarian Charter School since 2018, teaching 4th grade before finding my home in first grade. First grade is where something remarkable beings. Students start to make the transition from learning to read to reading to learn, and watching that shift happen is the magic of education. My goal is to build students up to be strong people, who love reading and are deeply curious about the world around them.
