Hello, My name is Kristen Ryder and I am excited to be teaching your child 3rd grade math this school year! This page is a work in progress as Math 3 will be switching from Saxon to Illustative Math. As I become familiar with the program, I will make updates to this page. Here are a few things that I know:
- Our goal will be to complete one lesson per day
- Each lesson has a homework component that will consist of what we are working on, as well as a spiral review
Supplies
Students are expected to come to math class each day prepared with their math folder, math journal, and homework.
Communication
You can expect a weekly email from me including the current homework assignments and test schedule as well as any concepts that can be reinforced at home. I will also use the Remind App to send quick reminders throughout the year. Please email me anytime with questions, comments, or concerns. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year.
Homework
Students will have homework on lesson days, but not necessarily on test days. Homework will typically consist of a lesson review as well as a quick spiral review from previous years.
Grading and Tests
Report cards will show an academic and an effort grade. The effort grade is made up solely of homework assignments. Academic grades will come from quizzes, tests, and in class assignments.
