Good morning ASD Community,
All ASD schools and support facilities are closed today due to hazardous weather and icy road conditions. Side streets and upper elevations areas are not safe. Only emergency staff should report for duty, including all facilities and maintenance staff. Unless otherwise announced, schools will reopen tomorrow.
A decision about after school activities and Community Rental facilities will be made by noon.

Requirements for participating in volleyball include: an activity fee, a participation form, and physical from a clinic or doctor's office. Paperwork is available from the Mears Student Services office and can be downloaded from the district's webpage at : MEARS SPORTS

2025 OPENING DAY
Volleyball has over 150 girs each year so we offer two practice schedules. YOU as a fmamly may pick your desired practice time. However the Varisty and JV1 will practice before school.
Before school practice starts at 7:45 AM and ends at 9:15 AM but will end at 9:00 on Monday mornings because of PLC.
After school practice starts at 4:15 PM and ends at 5:45 PM. Practice takes place every full student day excpet game days.
Come prepared to dress out and participate.

UPDATES for 2025 Season
Mears Volleyball 2025 General Information
OCT 14 All Players will attend after school practice the first week.
Mears Volleyball season is upon us and we hope to make this season a successful and fun one for everyone involved! Middle School volleyball is an interscholastic sport. That means we play teams from other ASD Middle Schools. ASD format this year has various levels from the same school traveling to a host school and a couple Saturday Jamborees.
Mears teams will be Varsity, JV1, JV2, JV3 with approximately 12 girls each. Mears will also have several C teams of approximately 15 girls each. The "C" team numbers are for scheduling purposes only. The Varsity, JV1, JV2 and JV3 teams are selected on ability and positional needs. The C level teams are somewhat blended abilities to enhance player development and allow all ASD 'C; teams to compete against each other. (C1 is not better than C8). We divide the girls up by coach and try to balance the girls so that all teams are fun and competitive. This is middle school volleyball and we do our best to make it fun so your student will enjoy a lifetime of fitness. All girls will make a team!
A player must have ten (10) practices to participate in a match/jamboree. Please do not miss a practice as we only have a limited time before our first set of matches. A player must also have attended practice the day prior to a jamboree to play or be excused by their respective coach with parent/guardian communication. Your team coach may also send home a letter of their team expectations.
ASD GAME SCHEDULE WILL BE UPDATED as soon as all schools have reported their total player count!
