This is the final week of GVMS Volleyball!!
On Monday, December 8, Thompson's Vartsity, Baski's JV2B, Shilke's C2, and Blair's C4 have home games. See below, but Roux's JV2A travels to Begich. If you are not part of these teams, go home, there is no practice today. If players decide to go home, please return to GVMS no later than 5:30 p.m.
The bus for Mrs. Roux's JV2A departs Goldenview at 4:50 and won't return until 8:30. It is recommended parents sign their child out form the game with their coach and skip the bus ride back as the return bus will make this a long evening.

Welcome to a new season of Goldenview Volleyball! Whether you have aspirations of playing at the varsity level in high school, or you simply want to learn the game and have fun, we are happy you have chosen to participate. Goldenview has a tradition of excellence in volleyball. Since our program began over twenty-seven years ago, hundreds of young ladies have learned the skills of volleyball while representing their school in competition.
Just like in all areas of life, we all have different skill levels, so there will be a number of different levels of play. We will begin our season by evaluating your skills. 6th Graders will have their evaluations on Tuesday, October 14, 7th Grade Evaluations will be on Wednesday, October 15, and 8th graders will be evaluated on Thursday, October 16. On Monday, October 20, we will begin our split practices. If you are selected for Varsity, JV1, JV2, or JV3, practice will be held from 7:45 - 9:15 a.m. before school. C-Team will be held from 4:15-5:45 p.m. after school. We regularly have 160+ ladies participate with volleyball, and last year we set a record with over 210 participants! The only way we can safely run our program is through a split practice schedule. Regardless of your skill level, we will make you better and have a lot of fun! Everyone who comes out for volleyball will be placed on a team.
Rides must be arranged prior to practice. Please arrange to be picked up at 5:45 sharp as your coaches have things they need to do after practice. On game days, parents are encouraged to pick up their child at our host school, but you will need to sign-out your departure with your coach. Never leave before signing out with your coach!!!!!
Making a commitment to participate means making a commitment to your team. It is essential that you come to every scheduled practice possible. If you miss a practice because of illness, or you will be out of town, please communicate this with your coach. Your playing time may be reduced if you miss multiple practices. You are expected to be at the practice prior to the competition and you will need to have completed a minimum of ten practices to be eligible to play.
Dress to play! It is essential that you are dressed appropriately to practice and play. Our uniform consists of the Yellow Goldenview Athletic Shirt and can be purchased from the office for $25 and can be worn in other GVMS sports. Depending upon your team, some player numbers may need to be changed. You will be responsible for this uniform for the season. You will also need to have some black shorts and some good athletic shoes to support your ankles. We recommend cross trainers or shoes designed for volleyball. Running shoes can be dangerous. Running shoes have good grip but lack ankle support, and injury is a real possibility.
