This is Coach Thompson's 24th year coaching at Goldenview Middle School. Previously he has coached C-Team, J2/JV3, and JV1. He has also served as Co-Head coach for several years, and this is his 8th year coaching Varsity. Other coaching experience includes three years with Boys & Girls Club, seven years coaching C-Team at South Anchorage High School, three years coaching JV at Service High School, and 14 years coaching multiple levels with the Midnight Sun Volleyball Club.
Rachel Roux teaches 7th-grade social studies and 8th-grade health at Goldenview. In her 27th year of teaching in the ASD, this is her 4th year coaching volleyball.
Together with her husband, Michael, they have three children. All three kids attended Goldenview. Isaac is now a Senior at South Anchorage High School, Jacob is in his Sophomore year at college in Arizona, while their daughter Mikayla is a recent graduate of NAU.
Mrs. Roux is looking forward to another great season of volleyball!
Mrs. Baski was born and raised in Anchorage Alaska, she competed Gymnastics for West High School. She loves being a math teacher at Goldenview. She has previously coached Rec. Gymnastics for six years, this will be her first year coaching volleyball. She has two children, Lucy, who is a senior and Riley, who is a junior.
She is very excited for the volleyball season!!!
This is Mrs. Chaitoff's second year teaching 7th grade math at Goldenview, however she has taught in A.S.D. for 28 years, mostly in 6th grade. She grew up here in Anchorage and played volleyball for Dimond High School. During college and after, she played on various city league teams: women's, coed, and reverse coed. She has two children: Madison, who is a senior at South, and Camden, who is a freshman at South. She has enjoyed being a volleyball mom the past few years and is SUPER excited to coach again this season at Goldenview! Go Suns!
Lorena Blair is the Student Success Coach for Migrant Education at Goldenview. This is her seventh year at the school and 5th year coaching. We are happy to have Ms. Blair back again! She was born and raised in Anchorage, and attended Mears, Romig, Dimond, and UAA. She loves playing sports and watching baseball and hockey. Her favorite sport to play is softball. In the summer she is on three teams and competes in at least a dozen tournaments. In the fall and winter, she plays volleyball and hockey on women's and coed teams. She also enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and traveling.
This is Mr. Schilke's second year coaching volleyball at GVMS, and has coached C-Team and JV volleyball at Wendler for many years previously. Mr. Schilke is a Dimond High Graduate where he was a basektball star in the late 80's. For many years he watched his daugher Kinsey play volleyball at Goldenview, Club, and at South Anchorage High School where she was a star. Mr. Schilke has coached basketball, running, track, and volleyball. He is excited to be back again on the GVMS Volleyball Coaching Staff.
Michael Kutscheid is a 6th grade social studies teacher at Goldenview Middle School. This is his 22nd year with ASD, second year at GVMS, and his second year coaching volleyball. He was raised in Anchorage and attended Romig, West, UAA, UAF, and APU. He likes to camp, hike, bike and kayak with his wife Chris and two kids, Zoe and Michael. He is excited to be back on the GVMS coaching staff this year!
Ms. Garner is a 6th grade Language Arts teacher starting her 2nd year at Goldenview Middle School, and 5th year in the district. She was born and raised in Anchorage and attended college at Boise State University. From 5th-10th grade she competed on Boys and Girls Club, Mears Middle School, Midnight Sun, & Dimond High School volleyball teams; however, this is her first year as a coach! In her free time, Ms. Garner loves to travel, explore all of the beauty Alaska has to offer, go to concerts, and spend time with friends, family, and her cat, Penelope. She can't wait for the great season ahead!
