Written Directions:

  1. Log into your Student Connection account.

  2. If you have two tracks, i.e. your current school, and another school select the track for the upcoming school year 2022-2023 (Ex. Spring Hill (current school) 2021-2022, Hanshew (next school year) 2022-2023 is what you should select).

  3. Select the “Requests” tab on the left side menu.

  4. Click the “Add/Edit Requests” on the top right side of the section.

  5. The course list window will appear below. When a course is selected, there will be a course description to the right (not all courses will have a description).

NURSE NUGGETS

ASD is still trying to keep our students safe from COVID. We are requiring masks, hand washing, sanitizing services and safe social distancing as possible. This can be difficult in a busy middle school, which is why wearing the mask appropriately is so vital.

I will be offering testing to those students who are symptomatic when they come to school and need to be sent home. Please check your student prior to them coming to school to be sure they are not experiencing any symptom or just not feeling well. If your child comes to me with symptoms, including even minor symptoms like a headache, congestion, runny nose, stomach ache, I am required to send them home for either 1) a negative COVID test 2) a note from his/her doctor that he/she is not experiencing a COVID-related illness, or 3) the student stays home for 5 days and can return on the 6th day.

If your child experiences headaches routinely, or has a stomach issue, your doctor can complete the Chronic Condition Release form, and I wouldn’t have to test them. I can do the testing at school and results will be emailed to you usually prior to school the next day. You must complete the registration first. I encourage you to register now, so that you have it ready if needed. This is the link:

If your child is positive for COVID, ASD is following the recently updated 5 day isolation period, with or without symptoms. Your child would return on the 6th day. The first day of symptoms or the positve test date counts as day 0.

Omicron variant is rampant. It is highly communicable and symptoms develop within 1-3 days. Usually the disease does not make people as sick as the Delta variant. Students 12 and over qualify for the 3rd Pfizer booster after 5 months of receiving the Pfizer vaccine. If you have the third booster, it protects you at 75%. I encourage the third booster.

The at home test is not as reliable as the PCR test (done at the clinics and school). There is a high percentage of false negatives. The school requires a PCR test to return to school.

Please look at the following websites for information about returning to school and screening your student before sending them to school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or email me.
