Title VI Indigenous Education
Project Gui Kima
I am Yup'ik, raised mainly in Alakanuk. My parents are from Alakanuk and Bethel. I was a teacher on the Lower Yukon School District from 1996-2008. I moved to Prince of Wales where I worked in the Health Care system with SEARHC and became a full time Therapeutic Foster parent. I moved to Anchorage in 2019 and have been working with the Anchorage School District since 2020. I recently graduated from Anchorage Leadership with the Alaska Humanities Forum. I enjoy hiking, hunting, fishing, and harvesting throughout the year. I am passionate about serving our Indigenous peoples!
PGK serves students 9-12th grades in the Anchorage School District
PGK focuses on helping students to discover their cultural identity using Indigenous life skills to help navigate their college or career paths. The program will utilize culturally relevant programming to support college & career ready students, especially students who are interested in becoming certified teachers. Gui Kima provides a 4 day/3 night High School Summer Intensive at APU for up to 50 students.

Alaska Strong Coordinator
I am from Buckland, Alaska, in the Northwest of Alaska. I graduated from UAF with a B.A. in English and an A.A. degree. I love dog mushing, pool, and dad jokes. Alaska Strong serves parents in a three-week program that connects students, parents, and staff to understand Alaska Native cultural values. We offer classes such as Qaspaq making, fry breading, and other opportunities. We make field trips to the Alaska Sealife Center, Anchorage Museum, and Alaska Zoo. Taikuu
