Here is an update from Collegeboard regarding AP testing. For those of you taking the test, I highly recommend taking a look. They also have online classes happening next week, which you will be able to attend online. Email me questions, and if I can answer them I will.

Until I have any real information for you, here's something to keep you prepared for the AP Test, which will probably still happen.
Spring Break 2020!!!! Finish Grendel and complete the associated Philosophies Assignment. It is due the first block day of the fourth quarter.
3/2-3/16 Finish the book and complete the associated Philosophies Assignment.
2/28 Read chapters one and two of Grendel for Monday. If you have an excused absence because of a school activity, you should still do the assignment so you are not even more behind the class for Monday. Here is an online version of the text.
2/18-2/24 Finish Beowulf for Monday. Find five aspects of the Hero's Journey in the poem, write these down, and then explain how each relates to the example you have chosen. This assignment should be in MLA format and is also due on Monday.
2/10-2/17 Read to line 1815 of Beowulf for Tuesday the 18th. As you are reading you need to monitor the aspects of an Epic Poem. Your assignment is to find an example (a direct quote) of each of the following: two different epic characteristics, two different epic conventions , and two different epic hero characteristics. Write down and cite each quote and then explain how that quote relates to the characteristic or convention that you have chosen. A complete assignment will have six quoted and cited examples as well as the associated commentary. Email me with questions.
2/3-2/6 The Macbeth Motif Project is due Friday.
1/31 Choose FOUR THEMES from the list. For each theme, find two quotes from the play that are indicative of this theme, cite them, and then explain in a sentence or two how the quote relates to the theme. (This means you will be finding and writing about eight quotes.) You can type this assignment but make sure you bring a hardcopy Monday, as it will be part of your Macbeth final. Email me with questions.
1/27-1/30 Finish the play for Friday.
1/24 Read Act 3 for Monday. Be prepared for a quiz over the first three acts!
1/17-1/23 Read Act I-2 of Macbeth for Friday 1/24. (Science Day folks should grab a book ASAP or read it here.)

11/8 Read Austin (227) and answer Strategy 1 and Purpose 2 in complete paragraphs using evidence from the text to support your replies.
11/4-11/8 Here is the Juxtaposition assignment.
11/1 Read Tannen's essay on page 174 of The Riverside Reader. Answer Purpose question one and Strategy question two in minor paragraphs using embedded quotes.
10/28-11/1 Process Assignment
