Resources for Teachers

As you prepare to leave your classroom for the next few weeks, there are a few technology items that you should consider taking home with you. These tools will help you make the most of your time supporting students and families.

  • Dell Latitude Laptop (black laptop) and power adapter

  • USB Headset with Mic (the same that students use for testing)

  • MimioView Document Camera and white USB cable

  • Dell Monitor, power cord, and USB-C cord

  • Wireless Keyboard & Mouse

Set up a small, quiet area of your home as a home office. Preferably somewhere where you can craft messages to students and their families uninterrupted from the hustle and bustle of your family. Some of the messages you create will be written, some may be digital through Schoology or SeeSaw, and some may include short demonstration videos. Having the USB headset will help with the audio clarity, having the document camera will allow you to demonstrate handwritten tasks. If you decide to take technology home with you, please let Technology Services know by creating an Incident IQ ticket, recording the asset tag numbers in your request.

ASD Teaches

We will craft how-to videos using the software and equipment. These tutorials will be posted on this website, Anacortes Teaches.

During this period of school closure, we ask and hope that you will spend some time developing your skills and enhancing your ability to provide virtual/online instruction if and when it becomes necessary.

Elementary Teachers

If you are an elementary teacher, we recommend developing proficiency using SeeSaw (K-2 students) and G Suite for Education with Google Classroom for (Grades 3-5). You might find these resources helpful:

The examples above are a small portion of the available training provided by Kyte Learning and OTIS for Educators. You are welcome to explore other offerings in both collections.

Secondary Teachers

If you are a secondary teacher in the District, we suggest developing proficiency delivering instruction through Schoology with the G Suite for Education. You might find one of these resources helpful:

Zoom & SMART

All teachers in the District have been given Zoom accounts to support video conferencing and virtual meetings with students and families. The Zoom Help Center has a wide variety of recorded webinars and training videos to help you become proficient with this tool. We will also provide an online SMART Notebook with SMART Learning Suite for all teachers starting next week. These two platforms provide a collaborative interactive whiteboard experience for you and your students. Look for the training on these tools at OTIS for Educators.

Technology Support

To access the resources at Kyte, OTIS, or Google, teachers should use their ASD Google Account. For issues logging in to these services, please do one of the following:

  1. Leave a voicemail message at (360) 503-1220

  2. Create an Incident IQ ticket at https://anacortes.incidentiq.com/

  3. Contact the technician assigned to your building

We recognize that the coming weeks are uncertain; there are many questions that we all have. Some of these questions require an immediate response; some we’re still working on; and some won’t have an answer until we have better information. As we acquire new information, we’ll do our best to share resources through the Anacortes Teaches website.

Good luck with this transition -- and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions!
