Smarter Balance Assessment

We complete SBA Testing in Spring of the school year 24/25

Hello AOP Families,

State Testing will begin in May. Your student needs to attend the specific days below for testing. If your student can not make it or you do not intend on having your student complete the State Testing please let me know via email. During the three weeks of testing the students will not be required to come onsite for their regular onsite hour. Check-ins will be completed via Google Classroom - Weekly Progress Summaries.

Onsite Check ins will return to normal after testing!

How to prepare for State Testing

3rd - 12th Complete one Practice Performance tasks - ELA
3rd - 12th Complete one Practice Test - Math
5th, 8th, and 11th Grade only - Also complete the WCAS Training Tests

State Testing Requirements/Things to know

Students will check in at the office no more than 5 minutes early
Students need to bring a book to read after they are done
Students need to bring a fully charged school issued Chromebook (Personal devices will not work)
Backpacks will be placed along the wall in the room
Cellphones and other smart devices must be turned off and turned into the teacher.
Students will be given a pencil, paper, and headphones to use
Students will need to stay for the entire testing time slot
Students can bring a water bottle with a lid

i-Ready

We will have students complete the iready diagnosis for reading and math in September, January, and May. This will not affect students' grades. The goal of this diagnostic is to get data on their growth over the course of the school year.

Students need to attend two lab sessions to finish the diagnostic. Most students are able to complete it within the 1-1.5hr sessions. If they do not complete it they will need to come onsite again to complete it. This testing session will count as their onsite check in for the week they take the diagnostic.

You will need to come in for two Lab hours session to complete the testing.

If they complete the diagnostic early they will be able to complete AE assignments or read their novels for the rest of the time.
