How does Courseware work?
Students log on daily to Courseware for their lessons. Student lessons are supported with their workbooks, fillable PDFs (optional instead of writing in the workbooks), and with different activities or experiments which students will then upload into Courseware when asked. *If a student will be unable to log in to Courseware for any reason, the SVLC office or learning consultant must be notified.
Teacher Feedback within Courseware
Any grades or feedback that has been provided to your student can be found in the Course Section (a yellow gradebook icon) as things are returned, as well as on the assignment. Please reach out to your learning consultant should you have any questions.
Returned work
Any work that is returned to the student as a "retry" within Courseware has 1 week to be resubmitted. After a week's time, the learning consultant will grade the assignment as originally uploaded and the parent or student may need to email the consultant if they'd like to have another opportunity to resubmit the student's work.
How long should my student spend on school?
Legal state learning hour requirements for ALE programs are as follows:
Kindergarten students should be working on their learning for approximately 15 hours a week minimum.
First-Eighth grade students should be working on their learning for approximately 28 hours a week minimum.
** Please note, your student is expected to complete their Courseware learning materials although some students may need more time than others. Your learning consultant can modify for individual student needs, please partner with your learning consultant for assistance with any questions or concerns that might arise. Thank you!
Is attendance taken?
Yes, attendance is taken by looking at student logons to Courseware. As Courseware is a general education program, students still need to log in and complete their coursework as they would in a regular school week. If a student is sick, or unable to work for an extended time, please let your learning consultant know and call our attendance line at (360) 618-6440.
