Orange Band - Each drummer must submit Part I in order to have a valid audition.

Blue Band - Each drummer must submit Part I, Part II, and Part III in order to have a valid audition.

Please use sticks throughout (not brushes).

Part I - All Participants

Part II - Blue Band ONLY

Perform the following style (Please use a metronome while practicing, but you will audition without a click):

• Bossa Nova (play at quarter note = 120)

• 4/4 time signature

• Play 16 measures

• Use idiomatic comping/fills

• NO PLAY-ALONG TRACK OR METRONOME

Part III - Blue Band ONLY

Using the Jazz Swing pattern, Play-along with “Moonmen'” from Effective Etudes for Jazz by Carubia and Jarvis

• Efforts should be made to catch auditory cues

  • Lead Trumpet Part for reference

• Provide appropriate comping/fills throughout the tune

• When recording, the "Moonmen - Track" MUST be playing in the room.
