A new update has been pushed to all student computers regarding how you log into Google Chrome. Please read the guide below carefully so you know what to expect on your device, both now and when you return for the next school year.
Only ASD Accounts Allowed: Moving forward, you will only be able to sign in to Google Chrome using your official ASD student account on your device.
No Personal Profiles: Personal Gmail accounts can no longer be used to create or sign into Chrome browser profiles on school devices.
Existing/Current Laptops: If you are currently signed in, your Chrome will continue to work normally for the rest of the school year.
Newly Imaged Laptops & Next School Year: All current laptops are being returned by June 11th. When you receive a laptop again in August, or if you get a newly imaged computer before then, you will see a new Chrome sign-in prompt the very first time you open the browser.
Step 1: Avoid the Restricted Sign-In Button
When you first open Chrome, you will see a "Welcome to Chrome profiles" screen.
⚠️ Important: Do NOT click the Sign in button with the lock icon. Students cannot sign in through this button.
Step 2: What Happens If You Click It?
If you accidentally click that restricted sign-in button, Chrome will display a "Can't use this profile" error message stating that an administrator has disabled old profiles.
If you see this error, click OK and proceed to Step 3 to remove it.
Step 3: Delete the Restricted Profile Card
To clear this out, hover your mouse over the "Your Chrome" profile card. Click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the card, and select Delete from the dropdown menu.
Step 4: Confirm the Deletion
A pop-up warning will ask if you want to delete this profile and its data. Click the red Delete button at the bottom right to completely clear the old configuration.
Step 5: Sign In Using Your ASD School Email Only
Once the profile is cleared, you will be taken to the proper Google Sign-In page.
Type in your full ASD school email address, click Next, and complete the login with your school password.

💡 Note: If you try to sign in with a personal email address (like @gmail.com), the browser will block the login.
