Homework Expectations:

The educational aim of homework (home enjoyment!) encompasses the following: practicing and mastering facts and concepts taught in class, preparing for tests and quizzes, work on study habits, and allow parents a window into our classroom and what we are learning.

Reading is a gift you can give your children and I'd love for each child to read, or be read to 5 times a week.  It is a way you can encourage growth in all learning and strengthen family bonds.

Assigned Homework (Home Enjoyment!)

Home enjoyment counts as 20% of student's grade and should take about 15-30 minutes a day, PLUS about 10-15 minutes of reading/studying time.  Home enjoyment that is turned in on time, signed (no initials please) by a parent/guardian, and in good condition will receive full credit.

Nightly Math Exercises: Please refer to Mrs. Spriggs' page for math home enjoyment expectations.

Reading Logs are no longer required.  Please have your child read for 15-20 minutes a night though as often as you are able.  Reading can be a book of choice, at or below grade level, picked out at your local library or from beloved bookshelves at home.

Math Fact practice:  A weekly packet of math fact practice will be sent home.  Please complete at least one sheet each night.  The packet will be turned in with the book log on Monday.  Additional flashcard or other math fact practice is encouraged, but not required.

Mondays: Nightly math fact practice. Nightly math exercise. Reading to a parent on the drive to or from school, or reading to a parent who is preparing dinner are some creative ways to get your reading in.

Tuesdays: Nightly math fact practice.  Nightly math exercise.

Wednesdays and Thursdays: Nightly math fact practice. Nightly math exercise.

Fridays:  Nightly math fact practice. Nightly math exercise.

As needed (varies by student): Read/Study for upcoming tests and quizzes; rework any math homework problems you got wrong, if any, and show your work.

There is a "No Name" folder in the classroom for work submitted without a student name on it.
