Mrs. Bissonnette

Greetings Third Grade Families!

Meet your teacher

Mrs. Bissonnette | 3rd Grade |

Ascent Classical Academy Douglas County

I am so excited to be joining Ascent Classical as a third grade teacher as well as volleyball coach this year. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from The Franciscan University, and taught third grade at a private school in Arlington, VA right out of college. I then had the blessing of being home with my 5 kids for a season, during which time, I homeschooled, rated standardized tests, taught in our homeschool co-op, and soaked in precious time with my children. My love of reading and music especially drew me to classical education. The sense of wonder, the love of virtue, and the development of the whole person found in classical education captivate me. I enjoy the outdoors, sports, music, spending time with my enormous and wonderful extended family, and challenging my kids to try new things as we adventure together. Someday I want to own a paddleboard, ride in a hot air balloon, and go to a Broadway show.

Educational Philosophy

For me, education is a lifelong journey, and its purpose is to develop and nourish virtue and clear thinking that can then be shared with others. While often used as a means to an end; “What can I do with my learning?”, I think a far better question is “How will learning change me?” My view of education is broader than desiring students get good grades, attend college, and find a good career. My hope is that they will see life as a constant learning opportunity, that they spread goodness and integrity to others, and that they never lose their sense of curiosity and awe at the grandness of our world. There is no situation in life where education of the whole person--body, mind, and soul-- is not invaluable.

What i'm looking forward to

Hands-on application of life lessons and challenging the way we look at the world to continually discover and live out virtue.

MEET YOUR TEACHER'S ASSISTANT

Mrs. Natasha Bosman | Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa, but lived most of my adult life in Colorado. I graduated from the University of South Africa with a Business Degree specializing in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. A fun fact about me is that I also speak Afrikaans. I previously worked as an Educational Assistant at a special needs program, and am excited to now be part of the Ascent family.

My husband Marius and I recently celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. We have two children, who also attend Ascent Classical Academy. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, drawing, painting, reading and building Legos with my kids.
