Grade 5

In Grade 4, students receive one or two 45 minute lessons of Orchestra / Band a week, depending on the quarter.

Orchestra - Students learn the violin and learn how to play in an ensemble focusing on the D major, G major and A major scales.

Band - Students learn either the trumpet, clarinet, flute or alto saxophone and learn how to play in an ensemble focusing on refining tone production and building up to playing music in the Bb Concert Scale.

Students need their own instruments, these can either be purchased or rented from the school (100€ per year).

Students will perform in a public concert in April and there will be opportunities for performances throughout the year. Grade 5 will perform in their end of year "step up ceremony".

Students will be assessed using standards based grading through the National Core Arts Standards in music with the focus on Performing, Creating and Responding.
