What is Guidance?
Guidance teachers are the first point of contact for parents.
GUIDANCE TEACHER WILL
-Help pupils to settle in Mearns Academy, and get to know them
-Help with any difficulties faced
-See pupils regularly in tutor time and in classes
-Keep an eye on how pupils are working in classes
-Keep in touch with pupils tutor teacher, class teachers and parents
-Teach pupils PSE once a week

'I started working at Mearns Academy in 2011. I have been a Guidance teacher for 6 years prior to that I was a PE Teacher. I really enjoy playing sport in my free time (Netball and Touch Rugby).I have a crazy spaniel called Flynn and I have recently become a mum which is taking up ALOT of my time :)'

'I started my teaching career in Scotland in 2003 as a Modern Languages teacher. I joined Mearns Academy in 2014 and became a Guidance teacher 4 years ago. I am a mum to a boy and a girl (10 and 13) and there is nothing I like more than going for walks in our beautiful countryside, reading and wild swimming :-) '
Mrs Eleanor Stevenson
'I joined Mearns Academy as a Guidance Teacher in January 2021. I have been a teacher for 21 years teaching Geography and have previous experience as a PTG and PT Subject. I am a mum to 2 children (14&10). I have really enjoyed becoming a member of the Mearns Team and am looking forward to working with all of our young people.'
Mrs Kerrie Jamieson
'After working as a Home Economics Teacher for several years, I joined Mearns in 2018 as an ASL Teacher specialising in Autism Support and in 2020 joined the Guidance team. I have a little girl (5) and you will normally see us out in the village walking our two dogs, Olly and Diego.'
