Why learn your times-tables?
Learning your times-tables might seem old-fashioned, but having instant recall in all your times-tables is an essential skill that will support many areas of Maths. Children will use the facts from their times-tables to help them with:
Multiplication
Division
Simplifying Fractions
Calculating perimeters and area
Calculating times intervals
Algebra
By having instant recall of times-table facts, it allows children to free up their working memory to work on problem-solving and deeper Maths problems.
Multiplying by two is so important and used so often in life, it has it's own name - doubling!
Learning your two-times table helps you learn your 4 and 8 times tables.
