Course Overview

AIMS OF THE COURSE

 

The aim of this course is to give learners the opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting and health and fitness activities. Learners will develop an understanding of factors which contribute to their own and others’ healthy living and fitness

 

COURSE CONTENT

 

The delivery of the Sport & Fitness Course is activity-based learning. Pupils will work through 7 modules

·         Sports participation

·         Health, fitness and nutrition

·         Researching sport

·         Sport in the community

·         Coaching and officiating

·         The environment

·         Working in sport

 

LEARNING AND TEACHING

 

Pupils will be taught in various ways. In striving towards personal performance improvements students will often be taught in quite direct ways. At other times pupils will work individually and/or in small groups.

 

ASSESSMENT PATTERN

Pupils will be assessed throughout the year.  There will be opportunities for personalisation and choice in some of the assessment tasks.  Also, contribution to discussions, presentations and written responses will be used to track and monitor progress.
