Self-introduction:
My name is Ian Cheng-Yi Hou. I am trained as a synthetic organic chemist. I acquired my master and bachelor degree in organic chemistry from National Taiwan University. Then, I obtained my PhD from MPIP and Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz focusing on bottom-up approached nanographenes. After further building up my solid background in the fields of molecular photoswitch and dynamic molecular crystals during my postdoc stays in Germany, UAE, and Japan, in 2025, I joined the Institute of Chemistry at Academia Sinica and started my own research group.
I have contributed through more than ten scientific publications to the fields of nanographene chemistry, molecular photoswitches, supramolecular chemistry, azulene chemistry, and dynamic molecular crystals.
Currently, being the youngest PI at Institute of Chemistry, Academia Sinica, I am actively participating in all kinds of activity. Together with several other PIs, we are building Institute of Chemistry into an internationally important research center for nanocarbon material.
Educational Background:
Ph.D. degree was obtained from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University, under the supervision of Prof. Hsin-Chieh Lin.
Self-introduction:
After obtaining Ph.D. degree, I worked as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor (2021-2024) at the Department of Chemistry, Assiut University, then returned to Taiwan as a postdoctoral researcher (2024-2025) at National Tsing Hua University. My research interest includes heterocyclic AIE materials, peptide hydrogels, polymers in energy applications, and switchable π-systems molecules.

Educational Background:
Year 2 Chemistry master student from National Chung Cheng University, CCU.
Self-introduction:
I am currently a second-year graduate student at Chung Cheng University. My hobbies include playing badminton and baseball, building models, and traveling.
Self-introduction:
I may appear to be cold, yet I am actually a crazy guy, only that I sometimes react a bit slow. I am diligent and serious on my work, yet easy-going. I am those type of person whom one know over time will eventually find out "Wow, this is actually a funny guy"
Self-introduction:
I obtained a PhD degree in analytical medicinal chemistry with years of pharmaceutical industry experience, now assisting research in organic chemistry lab and helping with administrative and general tasks. In addition, I am also responsible for supporting team collaboration and contributing analytical expertise to organic chemistry studies.
Educational Background:
Year 1 Chemical Engineering master student from National Cheng Kung University, NCKU.
Self-introduction:
I obtained a bachelor degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University, with a passion for gaming. I am currently studying organic synthesis and aspires to advance my skills in scientific research.
Educational Background:
BS Chemistry and MS Chemistry Degree obtained from University of the Philippines Diliman.
Self-introduction:
Hi, I’m a TIGP PhD student in the Sustainable Chemical Science & Technology (SCST) Program. I really enjoy building things, kind of like Lego, which is why I think I’ve always liked organic synthesis. For my PhD, I’m excited to work on building bigger, complex, and more interesting structures. Outside the lab, I like collecting brick models (specially Pokemon models), playing video games, and watching and reading anime.
Educational Background:
First year student of MST~TIGP fall 2025
Self-introduction:
I completed my Master of Science (MS) in Physics in 2024 from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan, where I graduated with a gold medal. My research experience encompasses 3D printing of polymeric and ceramic materials, tissue engineering, and biophysics. My current research interests include polymer science, molecular switches, photoswitches and organic synthesis.
