School Based Therapy

School Based Therapy

ArtSpace is fortunate to have three school based therapists working with our students during the school day. If you are interested in services for your child, please reach out to our School Counselors for additional information on the simple referral process. You can read below about our school based therapists, Mr. Alex, Ms. Amber and Mr. Shaun.

Alex Hersey, LCSW from Blue Ridge Treks, LLC

I believe in the power of school-based counseling for young people. I work with students in a relaxed, informal, and professional way to promote emotional safety and comfort within the relationship so that they can process openly and authentically about meaningful and often sensitive topics. While experiencing this connection people are able to gain presence, reflect on experiences, and plan for personal maintenance, change and growth.

Many clients enjoy both spending time in the office and taking walks around the ArtSpace campus during our time together. Topics of therapy often include: adjustment issues, coping skill development, anxiety management, self-esteem development, and relationship difficulties (parent-child relationship issues, peer relationship issues). I like to utilize physical activity, mindfulness, and ecotherapy for engagement and emphasizing overall health and wellness.I like coordinating with families and school staff to find the optimal timing for a student to be pulled from academics to work on self-development.I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Healthgram, and MedCost. I am not in-network with Medicaid at this time.
