Teacher Overview
This unit is geared toward intermediate students and is a wonderful way to integrate fluency, poetry, science and music. Students work on their fluency of complex phrases and multisyllabic words through performing duet-like poems related to insects. In addition, students explore classical music inspired by insects, which culminates in a musical, poetic performance.
To fully complete this unit, it is necessary to have multiple copies of the book Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices by Paul Fleischman. (http://www.amazon.com/Joyful-Noise-Poems-Two-Voices/dp/0064460932)

Joyful Noise Feedback Form
These can be printed four to a page and cut. They can be used as formative assessment during practice, for student audience members, and as a summative assessment. To be effective, it is helpful for the teacher to give specific feedback in the "comments" section. Students are reading with a parter, but they can be evaluated separately.
