LETTER HOME
Imagine that you have just visited the Art Institute in Chicago and seen the second version of Van Gogh's The Bedroom. Van Gogh often wrote home to his brother about his experiences. Just like Van Gogh, you are going to write a letter to someone at home about what Van Gogh's work The Bedroom. You may use descriptive, comparative and/or sequential patterns in your letter to help explain what you are seeing, feeling, and thinking about the piece.

Identify the similarities and differences between this painting to other works you have seen (either of Van Gogh's or any other artist). Use the comparison graphic to write down your thoughts.
STEP FOUR: WRITE YOUR LETTER
Using the help of your three organizers, craft a letter home that shares your thoughts, ideas and reflections of The Bedroom with your family. Your letter must contain at least 3 paragraphs, and include an opening, closing and signature, along with evidence to support your reflections.
STEP FIVE: REVISE YOUR LETTER
After you have completed your letter, re-read it to yourself and revise it. Be sure to look for correct punctuation, grammar, capitalization, and that it meets all of the requirements outlined in the letter description. Re-write your final copy.
