Guest Talk: Politics of Identity in Iranian Children's Literature

11 November 2021

Abstract

Children’s literature is instrumental in shaping and mapping the child reader’s identity. Children learn about themselves and their surroundings through the narratives they are exposed to. This is especially more significant when they identify themselves with the child characters within narratives. In this talk, I will study how in some works of Iranian children’s literature, child and childhood are represented and how they will, in turn, shape the readers’ minds about themselves.
