The ARTICard is the identification card for SAIC students, faculty, and staff. It provides access to campus buildings and school privileges and also allows cardholders to purchase items and services at select locations on and off campus. It is your permanent SAIC ID card, and as long as you’re registered for classes or an active faculty or staff member, it is valid.
You must make an appointment to visit the ARTICard office for a new or replacement ARTICard. You must present a valid US government-issued photo ID or passport to pick up your ARTICard.
Youth Students
Youth students will receive their ARTICards on the first day of class. If any students did not turn in photos before class started, their TA may bring them to the office to have their photo taken so an ID can be printed.
ACE Students
ACE students are responsible for creating an appointment at the ARTICard office and picking up their own ID.
Print Services - This page explains how to print on campus, lists printer locations, and provides pricing.
Photo Department Printers - How to work with the SAIC Photo Dept. to use the photo printers.
All faculty and TAs will be given $25 in their CS (583) Print Fund account per class. This is strictly for Continuing Studies class-related materials only. All CS students will have $12 in print funds per class.
Faculty and TAs teaching multiple sessions in a term will receive their full print allocation at the start of the term and are responsible for managing it to cover all classes.
If you have a project that exceeds the allotted funds, email saic-youth@saic.edu or saic-ace@saic.edu with a short explanation. CS staff will review spending to determine if the request is possible.
If you experience any printing access issues, email saicprint@saic.edu. More information about self-service printing can be found here.
The Department of Campus Resources for Information Technology (CRIT) provides technology and training resources to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) community and ensures that students, faculty, and staff have ready access to technology relevant to their fields of study, art practice, and professional duties. For more information, visit CRIT.

Please keep in mind the following access restrictions for faculty, TA, and students in instructional fabrication spaces:
CRIT Space Reservations
If you are a SAIC faculty member in the degree program currently teaching in PTDW or are confirmed to teach in PTDW in the upcoming term, you can reserve the space yourself by going into the patron portal:
Visit Patron Portal > login with SAIC credentials > click on “New Reservation” on the homepage > select “Room Reservation” from the drop-down menu > enter in start date/time and end date/time > select “Add items” on the left-hand side > select PTDW Crit Space > select the crit space you want to reserve > select “add one of this type > select “close” > select “save this reservation” on the left side of the page.
If you are not a PTDW faculty member in the degree program currently or in the upcoming term, email us at saic-ace@saic.edu or saic-youth@saic.edu and let us know which space you would like to reserve and when. We will complete the reservation on your behalf and confirm your reservation with you via email.

The room must not be used in any other capacity
If any items are damaged, please let us know by emailing ptdwoffice@saic.edu & saic-ace@saic.edu
NO students should be allowed in this space, nor should it be used for any other purpose
Fashion Models
If you plan to bring in a fashion model to your class, please let administrators know who you plan on asking for, their email address, and the dates of their visits so we can facilitate payment.
Figure Models
Faculty teaching relevant courses will receive an email before the term starts. Figure model requests are made on the SAIC Figure Modeling website.
Please note:
Figure model reservations will be limited to figure-focused courses.
Faculty are encouraged to submit model requests earlier, aligning with the timing of degree requests. Check the SAIC Figure Modeling website for submission deadlines.
Reservation limits:
24 hours for a 30-hour course
48 hours for a 60-hour course (summers-only)
Requests must be submitted in half-day (4 hours, including prep) or full-day (7 hours, including prep) increments.
Cancellations:
Our department will cancel model reservations for courses that do not run.
Faculty are responsible for cancelling any other figure model reservations with at least two weeks' notice.
Material Source is SAIC's on-campus store for obtaining art supplies. Material source stores provide convenient access to curriculum-driven and hard-to-source art materials across campus.
If you need to make a purchase from Material Source, please place an order here at least 2 weeks in advance, and forward the emailed “receipt” to saic-youth@saic.edu or saic-ace@saic.edu. CS staff will go to Material Source to gather and purchase your order. We will then coordinate the supply handoff with you via email.
If you need to purchase from Material Source outside of the 2-week advance timeframe, you can do so using your own personal ARTICash funds and seek reimbursement via Concur here. In this case, you’ll be responsible for picking up your own order. Please note that all Concur reimbursements are due no later than 1 week after your class ends.
Any SAIC staff member, faculty or enrolled for credit student with a valid ID may use the Media Center. For more information on SAIC's Media Centers, visit the Media Center Website.
Note about media center reservations: We recommend that faculty check out equipment or make reservations rather than the TA as a missing or broken item checked out under their name, even if used by a class, may impact their academic career and result in a hold on their account.
Please note that CS students, unless taking a class for credit (ECPSI), cannot check out any equipment at the Media Center.
PeopleSoft Self Service is used by faculty to submit grades, check class rosters, and more! For issues with PeopleSoft Self Service, reach out to the CRIT Helpdesk at crithelpdesk@saic.edu
