What is the HSC?
The Higher School Certificate recognises 13 years of schooling. It is the highest educational award in New South Wales schools. It is recognised internationally and provides students with a foundation to enter tertiary study, vocational training or employment. In the interests of greater career choices and increased opportunities at university and TAFE, it offers you a full range of study areas matching individual abilities, interests and goals.
What is the RoSA?
Cumulative credential for students who leave school before completing their Higher School Certificate (HSC) or do not meet the requirements for a HSC due to courses studied or number of units.
Lists all mandatory and additional Stage 5 (Year 10) courses and, where applicable, Stage 6 (Year 11 and 12) courses completed by the student, along with the grade/mark awarded.
NESA will issue the formal RoSA credential to students who satisfy the eligibility requirements when they leave school and are nominated as a RoSA school leaver.
What are Vocational Education & Training (VET) Qualifications
NESA endorse courses based on qualifications from national Training Packages or accredited courses.
Stage 6 VET Board Endorsed courses (VET BECs) count as Board Endorsed unit credit for the HSC.
Some VET courses have optional HSC Exams.
VET Courses can count towards an ATAR if the course has an exam and the student sits the exam
