Assessment in VET
ASSESSMENT of a VET COURSE
Vocational Education Courses are NESA developed frameworks that provide students with dual accreditation- as part of the overall HSC credential and as part of the Australian Qualifications Framework.
The satisfactory course completion criteria apply to all VET Courses.
VET courses are competency based. A student’s performance is judged as being either competent or not yet competent against prescribed standards.
A ‘Competency Record’ is kept for each student and will form the basis of the AQF VET Certificate or Statement of Attainment issued as part of the HSC credentials.
All Board Developed VET courses have a mandatory workplace component. Students will have the option to sit for an external examination in VET courses that have an optional HSC exam (some have no HSC Exam) and have this result count towards their ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank)
For all VET courses please direct inquiries to Mr James Healy, Leader of Learning (VET), or Mr Stephen Chapman for TVET/SBATS (Assistant Principal - Curriculum). For subject specific advice, please contact the teacher of that course:
