How long may my student keep a book?
Students may keep a book for 2 weeks without a renewal. After the second week students may renew a book once. This will allow a student to keep a books for up to 4 weeks.
When can students come to the library?
Students visit once a week for 40 minutes with their class to check out materials, listen to a read aloud story and learn library skills. Students may visit the library with their teachers permission through out the day, as long as classes are not in session.
Is there a time when I can visit the library with my child?
We are thrilled to announce that we open the library early to families every Tuesday 7:50 AM-8:00 AM. Students and parents may browse and check out books together during this time. Books checked out at that time do not count toward their allowance.
What happens if my child receives an overdue notice for a book?
If your child has received an overdue notice, it is time to check under beds, behind sofas, in car trunks, or on your own personal book shelves for the missing library book. If you are able to locate the book, bring it back to the library. If you are unable to locate the book or it is damaged beyond repair, please let us know so that we can replace it. We do not assess any fines or ask for a replacement.
What happens if my child receives an overdue notice for a book he or she never checked out?
Occasionally, it happens that a book gets checked out to another student by accident. If, by chance, there appears to be an error of any kind, please reach out to us by email and let us know! We will be happy to fix the error.
Oops! We lost a book, submitted payment for a new copy, and now found the lost book!
Because we forward all payments to the Stratton PTO, we cannot issue refunds. In this case, your payment for the lost book is considered a donation to our library.
How do I make a suggestion for a book that Stratton Library should have?
We have a book suggestion basket in the library and a link to a digital version here!
I have a bunch of books that we no longer want. Do you accept donations?
We appreciate you thinking of us when discarding books from your household collection! We are happy to consider your donations of very good condition nonfiction and fiction books. Please understand that any donated book must be reviewed and must meet selection criteria outlined in the district's policy handbook. If the book(s) does not meet the district's selection criterion, then we will donate the book.
I would like to volunteer in the library! How do I sign up?
Your help is always appreciated! Please reference the "Volunteer Information" page on our website to see how you can help. At the beginning of the school year, we hold library volunteer training. If you join us mid-year, we can arrange a time to provide an orientation and brief training. Additionally, you can complete a volunteer training remotely by visiting out "Volunteer Information" page here, working through the two training modules and taking the two (easy) quizzes.
