WHO WE ARE

Established by the legislature in 1984, Alabama's Regional Inservice Centers (ARIC) were created to serve and support public school educators with high-quality professional learning experiences.  The 11 centers which make up the ARIC network represent partnerships between higher education and the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE).  State law (Act 87-714) mandates that each in-service center's operational schedule, programming, and budget allocations be subject to the authority and oversight of an independent governing board.  The governing board members of each center represent the LEAs served as well as the center's affiliated higher education institution and the Alabama State Department of Education.

The regional in-service centers are housed at institutions of higher education across the state and primarily serve a defined geographic area as determined by the state legislature and the Alabama State Department of Education.  Please refer to the map on our home page to view regional service boundaries.
