Dual Credit United States History is two undergraduate-level core courses that give general information to those who have not studied it before (known as a “survey course”). The fall course covers the time period 1492 to 1865, and the spring covers 1865 to the Present. My number one goal and job is to provide students with a realistic college experience as if we were on campus at Texas Woman’s University in Denton.
At a minimum, students should be able to read a college-level textbook and write well above grade level. This class moves at a much faster pace than on-level (or regular) U.S. History and primarily consists of 1) lectures, 2) primary and secondary source reading, 3) writing, and 4) classroom assignments.
Additionally, all Juniors will take the U.S. History Since 1877 End of Course STAAR Exam in mid-April. This exam is entirely online, and students will use their AISD-issued Chromebook to take the exam.
