This is my 5th year as a dyslexia specialist and my 22nd year in education. I have had many roles during my career including gifted and talented teacher, kindergarten teacher, developemental first grade teacher, first grade teacher, second grade teacher, and now dyslexia specialist. I have completed my Take Flight training at McKinney Christian Academy-Multi Sensory Teacher Training to become an Academic Language Therapist. I received further Orton Gillingham training through the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education. I currently serve students in grades K-5 at Argyle West Elementary in Argyle ISD. I have found my dream job!
I am married to Scott Peck and together we have a wonderful daughter, Peyton. She will be a sophmore at Paris Junior College this year and playing softball for the Lady Dragons! In addition, two very loved members of our family are our dogs, Baxter and Waylon! My knowledge of dyslexia has grown over the years both in the classroom and in my personal life. My husband was identified as having dyslexia in elementary school after struggling with reading and writing for several years. He is a wonderful example of someone who has overcome dyslexia and not allowed it to hold him back from pursuing his dreams. He has gone on to become a talented radio/TV producer. His creativity is abounding and yes, he has to read and write scripts everyday! He is definately a success story. Because of his struggles in school, I have always had a special place in my heart for students who have struggled as well and have always worked to advocate for them. That's my motivation for giving the gift of reading to other students struggling with dyslexia.
