As a volunteer, you will have the support of Argyle ISD staff as you carry out your volunteerism across our campuses.
Specific guidelines have been established to safeguard both students and volunteers while enhancing the effectiveness of each volunteer’s contributions. These guidelines also aim to prevent any perception of misconduct involving mentors, volunteers, students, or schools in volunteer programs. Adherence to these guidelines is required for participation as a volunteer in Argyle ISD. We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to maintain a successful volunteer partnership.
Wear clothing appropriate for the school setting and your volunteer duties.
Commit to specific volunteer opportunities.
Notify appropriate school or district staff as soon as possible if you will be unable to fulfill arranged volunteer duties.
Please refrain from roaming the building and stay in your volunteer area.
Refrain from giving medications or medical treatment to a student. Students should visit the nurse’s office to receive any medical attention - including bandaids, cough drops, etc.
Volunteers serving during normal school hours should not give their home address, phone number or email address to students.
We ask that you not provide tangible, or monetary gifts to students. Your time and knowledge are the greatest gifts you can provide.
Refrain from posting pictures of students on social media outlets.
Please refrain from promoting any:
religious doctrines or beliefs
political candidates or parties
specific businesses, products, or brands
specific programs or agencies
There are many less physical yet effective and comfortable ways to encourage a student, including a thumbs up, high five, fist bump, pat on the back, secret handshake, etc. Please avoid front hugs.
Seek the aid of school personnel in the case of serious discipline problems. Never step into a physical altercation, should you encounter one.
If a student reports bullying, physical/sexual/chemical abuse, a crime, suicide/homicide, tell school personnel and appropriate agencies immediately.
When volunteering during school hours, please ask front office staff which restroom you should use.
Do not assist any student in going to the restroom.
Abide by other district rules and policies including those governing tobacco, alcohol and drug use, concealed handguns, and emergency preparedness procedures.
