Weekly Plans
3D Printing
3D Printing
We are continuing to work on 3D printing. We should all have our locker organizers printed by the end of the week. After that, you might work on an ornament for the tree, a water glider, or a different print of your choosing.
This week we'll try to get our locker organizers printed successfully. To speed this up, we'll print key parts of the organizer to ensure they are sized correctly. We will also be working on our water gliders; we will try to print without a raft.
This week we will review and practice using the vernier calipers.
First, each of you will gather some measurements needed for their locker organizer; you'll record this on a handout provided for you.
After this, you will create a sketch of your organizer on a piece of paper. You will submit your sketch to your instructor for review.
Once your sketch has been approved, you will begin designing your organizer on TinkerCAD
Monday
We'll begin with a review of our 3d Printers and how they work. Then we'll watch the video we missed last week and talk about the many possibilities brought forth through 3D printing.
Tuesday
This will be the first object we attempt to print. Follow this tutorial to create your personal luggage tag. Once your tag is created, we'll take a look at the printing process.
Your luggage tag will be assessed for proper completion of procedures.
Wednesday
Today you'll be attempting to send your prints to the MakerBot printers. Follow these steps to take your design from virtual to real. Your instructor will give a demonstration to get you going.
While your print is going, you may help other students who need to catch up, or you may tinker on a project of your own.
Thursday
Continue getting familiar with TinkerCad, exploring the various features.
Friday

Today you will continue exploring TinkerCad and practicing using the many available features.
If you didn't complete all of the twelve basic lessons, do that first. Once they are done, have your instructor check them off for completion.
You will work independently, choosing tutorial lessons which seem appealing to you. Feel free to try and create an object or tool of your own design and interest.
