Purpose:
The purpose of The Circle of Helping Hands is to provide a safe, compassionate, and understanding space where teens with parents diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease can connect, share, and support one another. This teen-to-teen support group aims to break the isolation that many young people feel when navigating the emotional and practical challenges of having a parent with a chronic illness. By fostering open conversations, peer support, and shared experiences, The Circle of Helping Hands empowers teens to build resilience, gain perspective, and find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their journey.
Why:
Teens with parents diagnosed with Parkinson’s often face unique emotional and practical challenges that can be difficult to talk about with peers who don’t understand their experience. Many feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to cope. The Circle of Helping Hands was created to fill that gap where teens can connect with others who truly understand what they’re going through, offering mutual support, empathy, and strength. Because no one should have to face something this big alone.
