Jr. High Band
About the band
Jr. high band includes both 7th and 8th grade band students. This is the first year of combined band at Arcadia. In addition to jr. high band, 8th graders also participate in marching band in the summer and fall. Jr. high band students perform a winter concert and a spring concert. Solo and Ensemble adjudication is an optional performance for jr. high band students. Students that excel may be nominated to participate in OMEA District 3 Honors Band.
The jr. high band will be performing at the Winter Concert in the auditorium on 12/17 at 7pm.
Solo and Ensemble
Solo and Ensemble is an OMEA adjudicated event in which high school students have the opportunity to perform solo repertoire and/or ensemble repertoire in front of an adjudicator to receive constructive feedback and a rating. While the actual event of solo and ensemble is important, the emphasis of this event is on the process leading up to the performance. Students will select a solo that they are to prepare on their own, outside of band class. Their music should challenge them and push them to new heights in their musicianship as they prepare their music and strive for the highest rating of "superior".
