We are currently having a big focus on this across the hub, and would appreciate any support and encouragement you can provide at home with practicing these.

Finalists will be selected to compete in a Kaunuku Speech Competition, where we will select one Year 8 and one Year 7 to go on to compete in the Selwyn Schools Lions Speech Competition next term. Although this is a competition, and the work should be the children's own work, your support, encouragement, feedback and ideas are very welcome to help them be as confidently prepared as possible for sharing their speech with the class. Ideally, the speeches should be between 2.5 and 3 minutes long. Please could you help your child prepare their speech onto cue cards ready for Week 8. This can simply the speech printed out into cue card sized pieces and glued onto a cut up cereal box.

We will write on the subjects together during the first week.
Any additional stationery can be kept either at home until needed or given to your child’s ako teacher in a named zip-lock bag to store until needed.
Any unused stationery will be returned at the end of the year.
TECHNOLOGY
Our technology lessons will be every Wednesday. For those parents who have not had their children attend technology lessons before, our tamariki will be picked up from school and taken by bus to Lincoln Primary School. The bus will leave at 8:50 am and return to school at approximately 12:15 to complete the school day. The cost of these lessons is $50 and includes all materials. It will be added to your school account on Kindo. Our first technology session will be on Wednesday the 12th of February.
CAMPS
All Year 7/8 children will be attending Wellington as our camp this year in Term 4. Information will be placed in the More drop-down tab under Wellington Trip. More information about our plans for Wellington will be provided later in Term 1.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child’s ako teacher on their above email addresses.
Have a great week!
