6th Grade Summer Reading

All rising 6th graders are required to obtain a copy of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, read and annotate the novel, and be prepared by the start of school in August. Students received a flyer with assignment details in their Wednesday folder during the first week of May. For your convenience, a digital copy is also available at this link. 

The AJHS office has copies of Hatchet available to sell for $6. Gently used copies are also available at Black’s Old and New Mall, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Thrift Books, and other retailers. If obtaining a book is financially difficult, please contact the school.
