Book Drive for Inmates of Kent County Correctional Facility

"Keep in mind those who are in prison, as though you are in prison with them; and those are being badly treated, since you too are in the body."

Hebrews 13:3

January 15 - February 2

Why a book drive?

CDIE has decided to partner up with Campus Ministry for another community that Dr. King advocated for - incarcerated members in our society. Bring in your lightly used paperbacks to any of the locations listed below from January 15 to February 2nd to contribute!

"The human person is a wondrous creature of a body and a soul. In order to live, in order to thrive, both body and soul must be nurtured. When life decisions and situations result in incarceration, society is imposing restraint on an individual. While in this condition of restraint, nurturing the soul is very crucial; there is already plenty of negativity in this person's life, guilt or proving innocence, and the sense of self that prison or jail conveys on a daily basis. This book drive is meant to offer some humanizing quality to inmate's lives. It is a Dominican trait to nurture the intellectual life that leads to contemplation in the soul. Choose well what books you will offer to this drive. And be generous; some inmate might find solace and a new horizon by reading."
