Study away programs are academic programs, with an overnight travel component, that utilize experiential learning in an intercultural context (domestic or international) to enhance intercultural competence/sensitivity development as part of learning outcomes. Curriculum design varies by program with a focus on (a) integration of multiple high impact practices such as learning communities, community-based learning, global learning, internships, homestays, (b) critical reflective thinking before, during, and after program, (c) faith integration, and (d) academic integration with degree program.

South By Southwest (SXSW) is an iconic music, film, and creativity festival in Austin, TX. Experience innovative marketing and branding at its finest. We are gathering a group of APU students to volunteer in their educational conference (SXSW EDU) and the main festival. Students will earn the Music Badge, allowing them to attend the concerts. We will volunteer in different areas (sessions, hospitality) and be able to participate in the festival as well. Volunteer shifts are 6-10 hours per day.

The L’APEU field experience exposes students to 'real-life' organizational management situations. Students will learn about the private and public companies we visit, including current organizational dynamics, changes, and challenges relating to ethics and organizational development and change. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate in 'board-room' dialogue with company representatives regarding these developments, changes, and challenges. Corporate visits may include: LEGO, Audi, Adidas, Starbucks, and more. Cultural visits may include: touring the London Eye, Austria Salt Mines, Dauchu, Oxford, and the Tower of London.
