Qualitative Methods (Narratives, Case Studies, Discourse Analysis)
In our research team will continue to address race, grace, and power in higher education. The acceleration of racial bias incidents on campuses both secular and sacred, require more than documentation of such events. Solutions to racial discord require examples of advocacy and allyship from everyone, not just people of color. Our research team employs multiple qualitative methods that will include analyses of documents, individual interviews, and participant observations to understand educational policies, practices, and individual journeys that contribute to successful racial justice efforts of both individuals and institutions. Research team members will assist in conducting individual interviews, participant observations, preparing institutional profiles. We need research assistants to help us in all phases of our ongoing work - analysis, design, implementation. As part of an ongoing research project on racial justice in college, Ph.D. students will have an opportunity to join in researching the multiple facets of racial justice efforts at institutions of higher education.
