Phoenix Bikes
Earn-a-Bike is a free program where 6th-12th grade students learn hands-on bike mechanics skills from a Phoenix Bikes instructor. They're also given the opportunity to give back to the community by working on a bike that is given to a community member in need—a "give-a-bike"—and graduate from the program by fixing a bike that they get to take home for free—their "earn-a-bike"! Students who go through the Earn-a-Bike program don't just develop bike mechanics expertise—they also grow their self-confidence, strengthen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and have the opportunity to work with youth from a variety of backgrounds.
