Phase Three

A Research Paper of your project is required for all students in 5th grade - 12th grade. If you have followed the process outlined in this site, all the parts and pieces are done and need to be formatted into a formal piece of writing. The following documents outlines requirements, sequence, and items that should be included in a research paper.  For this type of writing, we use APA style.  This means that  references and in-text citation must follow the APA style format guides. Students should have all of these sections done. Now, they need to put them together in a formal written piece.

Research Paper Templates. You will be asked to make a copy when you click on the link. Please read the directions carefully.  There are parts you will need to delete. Include your name and the word Research Paper in the file name.

Scientific Research Site. This site was created by our Library and Media Tech specifically for our  STEM EXPO projects. It provides tutorials and resources for using research databases, citation help, website evaluation, and plagiarism.  It is staff and student friendly. 

• Citing Your Reference Sources (Google Document)  This document is a quick APA style review for a References page. (This is the Bibliography page.)

  • • Purdue Online Writing Lab Site.  This site reviews how to set-up a research paper using APA style.  Under the "General Format" is a tool to help format your references. 

Traditionally, tri-fold display boards were used to present your project to judges. Nowadays when researchers at universities share their findings, they do it using a poster.  The content is still the same, it is just a more modern way to present your work.  The Ohio Academy of Science has decided that they want a poster display not the traditional display.  Below is the criteria for the poster.
