The purpose of the Work or Service Learning Component is to encourage students to develop an understanding of civic responsibility and the role they can play in supporting and strengthening their communities. Students must document 120 hours or more of qualifying time.
Documented hours must occur after July 1, 2017, and before April 23, 2018.
There are 2 ways to meet this requirement.
Directions: First, get a copy of the Service Learning Calculator on the right. Your mentor will help you understand how to collect your hours using this document, or you may watch the "How to use your Calculator" video. An Employer Grade Sheet is included for an adult who has supervised your work or community experience to grade your performance. The Employer Grade Sheet only needs to be submitted once. Finally, the Service Learning Journal is a summary of how the experience will benefit you as a whole. The Employer Grade Sheet and Journal may be included as evidence in your portfolio.
