Welcome to the Frederick Douglass High School Choral Program! My ultimate goal during your students' choral experience is the ongoing development of the student as a whole both musically and personally for the lifelong pursuit and enjoyment of music.
We focus on the importance of correct vocal technique, listening skills, sight-singing, performance skills, responsible rehearsal habits, and the value of collaboration. I have high expectations of my students and I promise to provide a stimulating and nurturing learning environment.

Rules:
To treat everyone with kindness and respect.
Do not talk in rehearsals and lessons without permission to do so.
Please do not eat, drink, or CHEW GUM in Mr. Jones' classroom.
Do not damage the music or any other supplies and items in Mr. Jones' classroom.
We know that cell phones and electronic devices can be very distracting unauthorized use during virtual or in person rehearsal instruction shouldn't be seen nor heard.
We must sit in our assigned sections/seat.
All actions have consequences and rules also apply in Mr. Jones' class and on the Frederick Douglass campus in addition to all public performances and special events.
Expectations:
Sing and participate each day to the best of your ability.
Arrive to class on time.
Enter and exit the room quietly.
Come to class eager to learn something new.
Follow directions the first time they are given.
Arrive to concerts and performances on time.
Students know that concert attire must be uniform in order to perform.
Keep uniform clean and tidy.
We will strive to maintain a positive attitude in Mr. Jones' class!
Consequences:
1st Offense: Verbal Warning
2nd Offense: Teacher student conference
3rd Offense: Phone Call Home to Parents/Guardian(s)
4th Offense: Student Behavioral Referral and Office Referral
During Covid 19 Virtual these rules and consequences will remain.

Due to Covid 19 all performances will be postponed until Spring 2021
Attendance and participation in performances throughout the year are mandatory and do count as 40% of your child's grade. Students and parents can visit the calendar page for this year's events and information.
