Biography

Originally from New Orleans, La, Dr. Franklin-Jones has been residing in Georgia since 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina. One may like to think of her as a career student who took a break and, in the process, became an educator. Being an educator is hard work but rewarding nonetheless. Dr. Franklin-Jones has been teaching, mentoring, and coaching for the past 23 years. Dr. Franklin-Jones received her BS in Biology from Jackson State University in 1998 and later pursued her BSN from William Carey College in 2000. After working in the medical field she decided that this was not the career for her and decided to pursue another profession in education. While working on her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of New Orleans she received certification in all areas of science. Once Dr. Franklin-Jones got settled in GA she enrolled at Argosy University Atlanta where she receives two Education Specialist degrees (Instructional and Educational Leadership) and a Doctor of Education. Currently, Dr. Franklin-Jones is the Signature Program Specialist.

Dr. Franklin-Jones is very familiar with online learning due to her earning three advanced degrees using similar platforms. One of Dr. Franklin-Jones' career goals involves the writing of a science curriculum that she feels is appropriate for students.  Philosophy of Education

Webster defines education as “the knowledge or skill obtained or developed by a learning process; the field of study concerned with the pedagogy of teaching and learning” (2020).  While writing my philosophy of education the thought of why I chose education as a profession came to mind. Education was not my initial interest, however, when I entered into the world of education, my only concern was to be an impact teacher, which I defined as one who changes lives while instructing learning simultaneously. At the beginning there was one goal of focus; place all students first and everything else will fall into place. My core principle of education was to teach every student with the best of my ability even those who were different, leaving no child behind regardless of their circumstances. Throughout my 21 years as an educator, I have developed a deeper passion for education, my core principles, and goals as a whole. In some facet, I think that your philosophy of education should hold the same weight as your values and beliefs for life.

My philosophy of education in general you see is simple, educate every student not only with the basic academic skills, but also with the knowledge and understanding that education is the key to life and no door can be opened without this very important key. However, one must keep in mind that in order to be successful, one has be opened-minded, prayerful, and willing to teach with compassion.
