Welcome to the Tabletop Board Games Club at Midtown High School. I am currently the sponsor of this all-welcoming club for those who want to play tabletop and board-based games. Please read below the information below to learn how you can become a member. I look forward to seeing this club evolve into a fun place for students to explore their imaginations while also making friends.
General Information
What is the Tabletop Gaming Club?
This club is for members of the school community who are interested in participating in tabletop games.
When and where do you meet?
We plan on meeting each Friday in room C414 (Mr. Curtis' room) from 3:45 - 5:00 pm.
What are tabletop games?
Tabletop games are games you play on a table. They may involved the use of cards, dice, figurines, or whatever play pieces are involved with the game. These are not electronic-based games. It's about using your imagination and person-to-person skills to participate.
Examples include: Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Pandemic, Risk, Settlers of Catan, Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon. Any tabletop game you can imagine. However, we will refrain from playing traditional card games (poker, blackjack, etc.)
Do I have to be an expert to participate?
Players of all skill levels are welcome to participate. We have experienced members who will be more than happy to teach you how to play a game. You can also bring your own board games and teach other members about them.
What are expectations of the sponsor, Mr. Curtis?
This is a club that I have chosen to sponsor for students to have a positive outlet at school. This is where you can learn a game, make friends, and hopefully have a real connection to the world. We live in an increasingly digital world now that we're beginning to lose touch with what it is to be human.
All are welcome, regardless of their experience level and who they are as a person. There is a zero tolerance policy for any form of discrimination towards members of any community. I can list specific examples, but common sense says you know what that means. If you require clarification, please see me. When in doubt, don't be a jerk.
I also expect you to have friendly disagreements. Little tolerance will be given for screaming, yelling, and behaving in a very immature fashion. I also expect students to respect the space and keep the room clean after each meeting.
