School Nomination Process
A teacher nominates 10th and 11th-grade students for a particular department or area for GHP.
The teacher nomination window closes Friday, September 1st @ 5:00 PM.
Teacher nominations do not guarantee a recommendation to move on to district-level competition.
If a student is nominated for multiple GHP areas, they must select an area PRIOR to school-level selection.
In other words, if a student is nominated in multiple areas, they can't go through the selection process in multiple areas, waiting to see what areas they are recommended to move on to district-level competition.
They must declare the nominating area prior to the school-level selection process.
Each department has a selection process to determine the number of students from each department or area, who will move on to the district competition. **The district-level content coordinators and directors determine the number of students to move on.**
Students moving on to the district-level competition will be asked to complete an application, including a written recommendation from their nominating teacher.
Atlanta Public Schools will provide the final allotment numbers of how many students may move into district competition, based on state allotments from the Governors Honors Program. Based on the district allotments for each high school, the list of students nominated for the district will be submitted to the Atlanta Public Schools Director of Academic Enrichment Programs.
School nomination submission due to content coordinator or director by September 13th
District applications will be released to students moving on to the district-level competition on September 14th
Applications are due on, September 22nd by 11:59 PM.
GHP District Level Interviews/ auditions will take place October 16 - 27th based on the content area
Students are responsible for transportation to interviews
