Arlington FBLA and RVR Bank partnered together to form the Arlington Eagles Bank in School Program. This deposit-only bank rewards elementary students with prizes as their interest to promote saving. Students bring deposits of any size to the bank. The money accumulates until sixth-grade graduation. At the end of sixth grade, students are given a check for the total they have saved. Last year K-6 grade students had accumulated over $36,000 by saving in the program. Arlington FBLA members operate the bank each week in conjunction with employees from RVR Bank, providing hands-on work experience in the field of banking. This is the 10th year of this school savings partnership.
One Book, One School has become a treasured time that families LOVE here at Arlington Elementary. The PTO is happy to be able to supply each family in our elementary school with a copy of the book that is chosen for that year's book. The One Book, One School team at the school then works to create a timeline to pace reading, question and game packets, activities, assemblies, and prizes that all help to build a love for literacy and promote unity within the school. This event takes place every other year and typically runs for a little over a month!
Read Across America is a fun celebration that shows students how exciting reading can be! Each year, our school and PTO team up for themed dress-up days, book raffles, and creative reading challenges. Students can earn prizes by logging reading time or completing fun projects like decorating potatoes as book characters.
We also enjoy daily “Drop Everything and Read” activities and end the week with a favorite tradition—the Family Pancake Breakfast! It’s a wonderful week full of reading, creativity, and school spirit.
Through Kids Heart Challenge, students learn how to keep their heart, body and brain healthy—while helping kids with special hearts live longer, healthier lives. It’s a fun and meaningful way to teach lifelong habits of health and helping others.
Each year, our PTO transforms the school into a magical holiday shop where students can pick out special gifts for their families. Every classroom gets a chance to visit and shop, turning this fun tradition into a meaningful learning experience about generosity, empathy, and money management.
The joy on our students’ faces—and the stories shared by families and volunteers—make all the hard work worthwhile. This heartwarming event has even been featured in a local education magazine for its impact on our school community.
Each year, Arlington hosts Back to School Night, a special event designed to welcome students and families back for a new school year. In partnership with the Arlington PTO, we provide an ice cream truck so every student can enjoy a free treat. Our kindergarten families receive an extra warm welcome with a free meal and a special Arlington Kindergarten t-shirt for each new student. These traditions create a magical and memorable start to the school year, helping families feel connected and excited for the learning ahead.
Each Friday, Arlington High School students involved in activities and athletics visit the elementary to greet and welcome students as they arrive. Elementary students are encouraged to show their school pride by wearing their best Eagle gear and joining in as the school spirit song is led during announcements. This weekly tradition fosters a sense of unity, pride, and connection across all grade levels, building a strong Eagle community.
At Arlington, we proudly celebrate Grandparents Day, a cherished tradition at the elementary level. This special event honors the important role grandparents play in our students’ lives. Our entire staff works together to organize meaningful activities, while students share songs and performances to express their appreciation. Each grandparent is celebrated and given a memorable gift to take home. We host this event to strengthen the bond between school and community, fostering connections that enrich our students’ educational experience.
At Arlington Elementary, we proudly host Dream Day, an inspiring event where community members are invited into our school to share their areas of expertise and passion. Students have the opportunity to explore topics of personal interest, learn from local professionals, and discover new possibilities for their future. This event encourages students to DREAM big by connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences. Dream Day is one of the most meaningful and memorable traditions at Arlington Elementary.
