Sectioning your folder: You will need scissors and a pencil
1. Have your folder on your desk so that it opens like a book would open. (Don’t actually have it open on your desk, just make sure that when you do open it, it opens like a book).
2. The top cover of your “book” does not meet the bottom cover…it is shorter. With your pencil, trace the line where the top cover meets the bottom cover (don’t follow the curves on the very top and bottom.
3. Take scissors and cut along that line so that the bottom cover is the same length as the top cover.
4. On the top right corner of the cover, write a small number 1 IN PENCIL.
5. On the top left corner of the cover, write a small number 8 in pencil.
6. Turn the folder over.
7. On the top LEFT corner of the back cover, write a small number 6 in pencil.
8. On the top right corner of the back cover, write a small number 7.
9. Turn the folder back over to that you can see the numbers 1 and 8.
10. Open the folder.
11. Trace the crease in the middle with your pencil so that you can see a line.
12. Bend the front and back covers inward towards the crease until they meet in the middle.
13. Make creases in the front and back covers of your book so that they stay in that position (the two edges of your “book” will now permanently meet in the middle at the crease.
14. Bend your folder backwards until the numbers 7 and 8 are flat against each other.
15. Have your folder on your desk with the number 1 facing upwards. This will be the cover of your project.
16. On the bottom cover, draw a straight horizontal line about two horizontal “fingers” from the bottom. Write your name and number here.
17. Open the cover.
18. Write the number 2 in the top left corner.
19. Write the number 3 in the top right corner.
20. Turn the page.
21. Write the number 4 in the top left corner.
22. Write the number 5 in the top right corner.
23. If you have folded your folder correctly, you should see the number 6 on the back cover and the numbers 7 and 8 when you “open” the back cover.
