About Me

Sir Brewsir and Moose

My Husband

My name is Cassandra Sims, and I am excited to be your child's teacher this year! First, I am a mother of 5, ages ranging from 10 to 20, a wife, and a fur baby owner. (Yes, they are big dogs! The English Mastiff is 232 lbs.) I love playing tennis, riding dirt bikes, and skiing.

I have been in education for 14 years, as both a teacher and an instructional coach. I have a bachelors in English, a masters in Secondary Education, and a masters in Teaching English as a Second Language. Additionally, I am attending NMSU's PhD program, specializing in curriculum design/instruction and educational leadership/legislation. GO AGGIES!!! I currently serve as one of VVHS's teacher leader facilitators.

Above all, I am passionate about helping students excel and overcoming learning barriers. I believe in properly educating students to not regurgitate information. My goal is that they look at events from multiple perspectives and devise personal, individual conclusions. The creation of independent thinkers has the potential to cure so many societal issues if students are allowed the opportunity to try, fail, and try again. Mistakes are the foundation of great knowledge.

In our English class, we will begin our journey towards this goal. By the end of the year, I hope to produce great observers, thinkers, and change makers. I believe in your children. Students truly are our future!
